Well after selling the nbox and schopes a while back i had sold my vark bar, now that i got the 4022's i could use one again and especially the riser for the ortf/xy bar, after finding out the riser is like 29.00 bucks i started to think of a alternate way of making a riser, then it struck my that my Dad works in a machine shop and maybe he could make one, so after talking to him and giving him the specifics and a couple pics he made the whole thing(i just wanted the riser) plus a extra inbetween size riser all built out of delrin and sent me these pics yesterday, so once again it just goes to show it who you know sometimes, that and his brother is the shop manager so no chance of him getting in trouble. I think the price of the vark is probably pretty fair considering the time put in to make all the pieces but free was better

I have been needing a riser (wasn't paying $29) so I assembled one with two 5/8" female to 3/8" male and two 5/8" male to 3/8" female adapters. They cost me $4 each and worked perfectly. I got an extra one of each for a bit more extension when I run with windscreens (only needed for X/Y).

However, your solution is very elegant. The DIY version is slick!

I have always wanted a Vark (and will buy one eventually) but I wish I had access to a machine shop for my own DIY projects - very, very nice!!

Nice. I have a machine shop at work and was thinking of doing the same. I was going to make different size bars for a bigger spread for my 4023's. Get away from that dina pattern for a change. Do you think it's worth trying?

a good inexpensive extension riser is a thread-rod 3/8-16 ferrule and a 3/8-16 stud that is threaded into it, and then seized into place (center punched the side of the ferrule to jam threads, or locknuts).

I did this over the weekend and am happy with my very inexpensive 1" riser.  Perfect for X-Y configs.
