Thanks for your replies. So the BB should be okay.

A 9V battery doesn't give you 4.5V per mic, it gives you 9V per mic as the mics are a parallel load on the battery.

But that worries me a little, because in a post above, DPA apparently had warned against 9V:

"It may work with 9V but it’s not recommendable however I need to inform you that violate the DPA warranty policy."

Is this DPA rep wrong?

Well, one of the two DPA reps above is wrong, you decide which.

I choose the one with the pirate tattoo.

Our 20+ year experience with DPA capsules taught us that if you apply 16 Volts to a 4060-series microphone without using a correctly computed dropping resistor, you will destroy the capsule. It will be a costly mistake, so if you don't know what you're doing, you might consider not doing it.

We've seen capsules destroyed by less than ten Volts and we've seen tens of destroyed 4060-series capsules.

so what voltage do you recommend
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D

I think 406x also works fine with a Tinybox using a miniplug-in cable as that will (AFAIK) only supply about 8V.

Almost any voltage from 5 to 48 Volts will work if you use the correct dropping resistor. If you don't you will either destroy it or will be wasting headroom.
