Superlux HM-32 shockmounts with Vark Bar
« on: October 24, 2006, 11:11:59 PM »
So I received my Vark Bar in the mail today.  I was attempting to do a dry microphone set up but ran in to a problem.  It seems that the mounting studs on the Vark Bar have 3/8"-16 threads.  The metal thread insearts for the Superlux shockmounts don't seem to match up.  They seem to be smaller.  Anyone run in to this problem before?

i dont have first hand experience with the vark bar, but i do have the hm32 (?) superlux mounts.  the metal insert is a simple thread adapter 5/8>3/8.  i use mine with the adapter in and have no problems screwing on and off a regular 3/8 - 16 bolt in my DIY vert mount.  if the vark has 3/8 - 16 then it should work.

I used the Vark bar with the HM-32 shocks without any problems fwiw. The thread adapters worked fine for me.

Might have to run out to maybe Home Depot or Lowes to see if they have a 5/8>3/8 that I could test out.  Thanks to all for the feedback, I'll keep trying to get this right.

Those places won't have the adapter you are talking about. Try a local guitar store. They often come in mic clips. If nothing else, you can buy them from B&H for a few dollars. That's weird it isn't working.

You mention the HM-32 mounts appear too small for the 3/8" Vark bar threads.  Any chance the HM-32 have not only the 5/8" > 3/8" adapter, but also a 3/8" > 1/4" adapter?

might seem unrelated...or not.  but you can unscrew the brass thread out of the superlux shockmounts so that they fit nicely on a 5/8 mount.

I actually work for a living with music, instead of you jerk offs who wish they did.

bwaaaahahahahahaha.... that is awesome!

Brian, I'm pretty sure they are not 3/8" > 1/4".

Mofogeek, I'm trying to mount my HM-32 shockmounts to the Vark microphone bar.  The vark bar has 3/8" studs so I need the adaptor to make them work on my new Vark bar.

Okay, just a thought.  I figured if the HM-32 threads (with adapters) are too small for the the HM-32, maybe someone at some point slotted 3/8" > 1/4" adapters into the stock 5/8" > 3/8" adapters.  Good luck getting it sorted.

Called the local Guitar Center here in Raleiigh and they guy said he would give me two for free.  I'll swing by and take the Vark Bar to make sure these fit.
