Title: MOTU 4pre?

I've always been happy with my MOTU Ultralite mk3 and just got a promotional email about the new MOTU 4pre which looks interesting:

If anyone gives it a try I'd be interested to hear how it sounds and any opinions on usability.

I just saw this in my latest EQ mag.  Runs on DC ranging from 9-16volts.  Looks like you might be able to run this as a stand alone.  Running it with a computer would be ideal......but it looks like you could matrix to digital on the fly..or take 4 line outs into a 4 channel unit...

My MOTU UltraLite MK2 can be used this way powered by a 12 SLA battery instead of the bus powered 6 pin Firewire 400

And it's pretty cheap too!  Less than $500 street price.  Also would be nice expansion for a pro tools 9/10 rig.  Definitely looking into this.

Agreed, I ran my MOTU ultalite MK3 on 12v Tekkeon just fine in the field. Worked like a champ, I never got around to setting it up for standalone but I know 100% it was possible and all features are available(even DSP) through the LED menu system. I would think the 4pre could do the same and operate standalone.
