Anyone used one of these?
http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=558368
I was looking at the standard Oppo units but they've been discontinued in favor of the Blu-Ray player, which I have no current use for. This would be for audio primarily. The unit looks pretty solid.
You can get it for $79 shipped from Amazon. Shipping is free with Amazon Prime membership (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=130898.0).

Nope.
But that looks like a deal, I may pick one up too if reports are favorable.

That looks like a steal for $79

looks to good to be true.

This unit has been out for a while. I think the original MSRP was $450, according to Yamaha's site. My stepdad has had a Yamaha surround system for a few years and I believe his CD/DVD player is from the same line. The build quality is pretty nice. I like the detachable cord.
I may just have to try this guy out.

Does it support DSD over HDMI? I could not find this defined in the specs.

I highly doubt it.
I just pulled the trigger as there were only 3 left according the Amazon's site. I figured it was a good way to use my $50 gift certificate. So, only $30 to my door. It'll be good to put these dusty SACDs to use, and spend needlessly on more.

Was looking elsewhere for info and one poster mentioned that it was limited to or downsampled DVDA/SACD to 24/48 over HDMI. who knows?
dig a little backstory?
I have only handful of SACDs and never had a player. Most are hybrid discs and I can play the CD layer. I'd like a player so I can listen to a few in SACD surround.
One is a recording made by Jurg Jecklin in 2003, using an adaptation of his J-disk technique to form a surround recording configuration. I had been scratching for more information on the technique without luck, so I emailed a contact at a Swiss university where J.Jecklin records a number of orchestra projects to ask about finding more information on the method, to which he replied, "why don't you ask him directly?", forwarded his contact information, asked for my address and very generously mailed a copy of the limited pressing surround SACD from Switzerland. How awesomely super cool is that? I'm listening to that 1st.
My only Yamaha disc player was my introduction to the CD -a very early generation model (cd-2 or cd-3 i think) I bought along with their K1020 cassette deck in 1985, long time gone.. but man I loved that tape deck and still have it.

Thank you!
I think I got the last one. I've been regretting not jumping on that deal that was in a thread here around X-mas for the Dennon universal player.
Edit: When I made my purchase it indicated that there was one left. I just looked again and now there are 3 left. not sure if that count is ever accurate. Looks like a great deal anyway.

Well, I got mine a few days ago and have been breaking it in. The build quality is nice and unit is fairly simple to use.
SACD will not play digi-out, obviously. DVD-A reseamples commercially released discs to 24/48. I played Donald Fagen's Morph the Cat DVD-A (DVD-S1800 > Mytek Stereo96 DAC (headphone out) > AKG K-702) and pretty much had to sop my face up off the floor afterwards. Jake (JBanyai97) came over and I let him listen. He can attest as well. ;) I don't have any burned 24/96 discs to test at the moment but hope to do some testing soon.
No video feedback as I've only been using this for audio.
