Whats the deal w/ the new system and some software. I can upload to livearchive.org w/ fetch and transmit but I can not use smartftp or cyberduck any more. I have used both w/ the old system no problem and I have tried all the suggestions ya have posted on the site. Both smartftp and cyperduck disconnect when I start to upload and well not coonect again. I need to try to get one of these freeware clients working because I don't want to pay for fetch or transmit. Please help before my trial period ends w/ fetch.

No help here, just chiming in to say I've had no problems with SmartFTP and the new LMA (though I've only uploaded twice so far in the new system).

I also forgot to post that cyberduck allows me to d/l but transmit before my trial period it ran out only allowd me to upload. I also log in correct w/ username and password correct addres because I have uploaded about 6 shows since the new system and uploaded plenty w/ the old.

Have you tried FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/)?

I've only uploaded one show since the conversion, but I use Filezilla without any problems.

It sounds like from the first post that he is running a Mac system. Fetch, Transmit, Cyberduck, they are all mac-written ftp clients.
Also, the trial period on Fetch runs alot longer than the specified time. I used it for about 6 months after the trial expired.

Ah, well, there's your problem. :P I haven't the foggiest idea about Mac FTP clients, so...time for me to STFU. :)

I use Rbrowser without any problems:

I run both and tried my pc and mac w/ mixed results w/ both. I d/l filezilla last night but did not give it a complete chance yet. I have tried 4 and only 2 of the 4 worked so far so it must be some setting I am missing!!! Not sure but I posted to archive.org forum also and waitin' for a answer.

I actually paid for Transmit, I like it so much. Of course, you can use it for the trial period, then trash the preferences file and start over...you lose all your favorites, but with a dynamic upload server system like the LMA has, there's not much point in having an archive.org favorite anyway...

I liked transmit 3 a lot but don't think its worth $29 bucks and if ya keep goin' after the trial period the program claims ya only coonect for 5 minute sessions at a time.

Cool!! Because last night when I uploaded two shows at the same time fetch seemed to work pretty good. I hope I can do the same in that case and d/l again after my trial runs out. I also like the fact that I could see all my archive files I was uploading no matter what the upload address.

No, that's definitely true, but like I said, you can just trash the preferences file (Library>Preferences>com.panic.Transmit3.plist) and it'll keep chugging. Trust me, I did it a few times until I found the Tiger patch for Transmit 2.6.2, which is perfectly fine for my needs...

my vote is for smart ftp

I've had no problems uploading with cyberduck since the changeover. (PowerBook G4)

For what it's worth I use FTP Client from Vicomsoft. I got it on special at one time and rarely is it updated, but it works fine for my needs and I liked it a bit more than the older transmit. I haven't tried version 3 of transmit however.
I had zero problems with the new archive upload and FTP Client for what it's worth.

New version of Cyberduck just released today if you want to go back and give it a try...

My guess is that if you're having trouble with an FTP client, you're probably having trouble with your internet connection. FTP clients all do the same thing, some just have better user interfaces for people to work with.
Check on the internet connection first. Make sure you can connect in active mode, and then move on from there...
