Has anyone here used PQI CF cards. there's a guy on eBay selling 8gig cards for $220

I looked at the PQI website, and it seems like they're a bit more reputable than some of the other generic CF cards that have been talked about recently.
$220 seems like a good deal to me, for a 100x CF card.
If anyone has specific experience with these cards in a Tascam HD-P2, that'd be fantastic. But I welcome any and all comments about any experience you have with these cards.

I have a P2 on the way - and I am in the same boat. This thread http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=62324.0 indicated a generic card that worked in the P2 - I am kinda leaning that way, but ???
edit: the PQI looks like a winner if it works...

right now, I don't know if I should go for this one, or shell out the extra ~$125 for an 8 gig Sandisk Ultra II, which I know will work.
hmmm..... if I put off the decision long enough, than the price on the Ultra II will probably drop below $300. ;D

i read a lot of mixed reviews online - some have had no issues, but say they are kinda slow, others have had issues with some cards but are happy with the replacement PQI cards they were sent and some swear they are pieces of shit and will never use them again. of course these reviews were for photography, but i would expect they handle similarly for recording gear if not worse as a lot of CF based recorders seem to be finicky with certain media.
IME you get what you pay for with these types of products, for me personally I would spend an extra 125 for something I Know will work and can rely on. Espcially if you have a lot of money invested in nice gear already. nothing worse than getting bit in the ass by faulty gear and loosing a show(s)

I just picked up 3 Kingston Elite 2gb cards on eBay for $100 shipped. Package deal.
Stalk eBay too. Card prices are dropping like a rock on there. I just saw a Kingston 4gb sell for $95 shipped.

i have useds a 4gb pqi 100X in my HDP2 at 24/96 with no probs many times, wont work at 24/192 without dropouts

well, the prices of the 8gig cards continued to drop (I paid $170 + shiping), so I finally went for it and bought an 8 gig PQI card. I posted my first experience with it on the team hd-p2 thread, but I figured some other folks may be interested as well, so I'll post it here as well :)
I ran it for the first time last night, with no problems. I did the "speed test" on the HD-P2, and it said it was ok and fast enough for everything except for 176.4 kHz stereo and 192 kHz stereo. that's fine with me, however, I just wanted an 8 gig card to step up to 24/96 instead of 24/48. in comparison, when I do the speed test with the 4 GB Sandisk Ultra II card that I have, it says it's fast enough for everything (including 176.4 and 192 kHz).
so, for Trey/Mike/Duo at great woods, they played ~2 hours, and I ran at 24/48 on the PQI card, just to stay on the safe side. then I left the show before Phil's portion, and went to see Club d'Elf. so for the first set of Club d'Elf, I started a new project on the PQI card, and set it for 24/96. it showed that I had ~3 hours of record time, which is consistent with the ~6 gigs that I had left on the card. so all is well and good. they played for nearly 2 hours, and no problems at 24/96. I keep auto-split set for 1.8gigs, and it worked just as it should. for d'Elf's 2nd set (which is always shorter), I switched to 4gig Sandisk Ultra II card (which would give me ~2 hours @ 24/96), and the 2nd set ended up a little over an hour, and of course no problems with the Ultra II at 24/96.
so, overall, a very positive experience with the PQI card, and my first show successfully recorded at 24/96 :)
so, that's my experience, and I'm quite happy. others have posted around that they have had issues with the PQI cards in marantz recorders or the microtrack. seems to me like those recorders are much more picky than the HD-P2 when it comes to CF cards.
