Theres a few of us on here - maybe we're the 1%ers compared to the N Americans on here though!

Sharingthegroove.org will give you a good idea of just who / how many people are 'taping' in Europe.

Shall we set up a team Europe???

I've never really read the team threads that much since they are mostly N American based...but shall I set one up anyway?

You could post upcoming shows that you'd like to see taped.

For example (as far as I know) I'm the only taper recording The Quireboys this last year or so. I could really do with some help!

Someone prepared to tape Thunder on their tour in November with Deep Purple wouldnt go amiss too.

Compared to the US, there are a huge number of UK bands that could be taped (and arent that often/that well), anyone that would like to tape Hurricane Party, or The Wildhearts, love to hear from you.

Switzerland checking in here.  Mostly a patcher in the past (in canada/US), but getting my rig up and running right now.  Joe w., do you know if M Ward will be opening for MMJ in Europe?  Big fan here.

Upcoming shows I plan to tape:

David Bowie, Paleo Music festival

Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Brian Blade
John Scofield Trio with Steve Swallow, Bill Stewart ,  Montreux Jazz fest

and best of all, this beaut at Montreux:
Carlos Santana will finally be playing for the «Hymns For Peace» evening on 15th July along with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin, Angélique Kidjo, Chick Corea, Idrissa Diop, Steve Winwood and others. They will all interpret classics on the theme of peace by authors like Bob Marley, John Lennon and Bob Dylan.

Why not tape some smaller bands? I mean, some of them have got to make it!

Try typing in your nearest city into the search engine on:

http://www.ents24.com/web/index.php

and see what comes up..

Funny that.
I used on that on Friday, went to see a local band called Clearway. Wasnt impressed. Supported by the ex lead singer of the Inspiral Carpets. It was just a pub, i would have felt a complete wanker stealthing in there, it was so open it would have been completely obvious, and everyone would have thought what a tit!
It didnt enjoy it at all, I think I need to see bands where I know at least one of the songs.

Some fair points, though:

As a rough guesstimate:

90% of small bands suck (or are not to your personal taste)

Of the rest:
9.9% will never make it but are good/great anyway
0.1% will make it and if you're the one person that stealthed them before they were famous, kudos.

I've taped in small bars and even pubs. If the band is small enough they may even like to hear how they sound on CD so you can ask them beforehand.

Anyway the whole concept of stealth is that nobody is supposed to notice you doing it!

I have kept an eye out for some who might to be to my taste ....

I always need the crowd to get away with it. I think it would be impossible to stealth in a pub? Your mics sitting there, getting your levels right etc ... People would notice, surely?
Maybe I havent perfected the art of stealthing yet ?  ;D
