soldering 1/8" stereo jack (trs) ...
« on: January 31, 2004, 03:36:00 PM »
to headphone-like cable?
my roommate has busted the tape adapter for the cd player in his car...the 1/8" jack came off the wire.  when stripping the wires there is an unshielded coper wire and one shielded (red or white) in each pair.
the 1/8"trs plug has 3 connections that i can see.

what wires go to what?

i should clarify...this is actually tip-ring-sleeve(short)-ring-sleeve(long) and the diagrams in the archive are for a straight tip-ring-sleeve...i did see those and maybe it's the same thing but i still don't understand how it is supposed to work!

what wires go to what?

most likely the following:

Red > Right (ring)
White > Left (tip)
both shield cables > shield
