Security at the LA Forum

Haven't seen a show there in quite awhile.  Anyone who has been there recently know about the security for stealthing a show?

Probably routine, possible wands. Don't worry so soon for Metallica. :)

I've heard its one of the harder venues for taping....
Some friends of mine have had probs there and the Troub. I guess the Palace is the worst.. friends of mine were taping the Melvins who are pro taping.. and one of my buddies who was on the tour with them (merch beotch!) had to sneak their recording gear in thru the back! hehe.

the forum is easy to get in, but it sounds like ass in there - it always has, so get down on the floor...

the palace, now the avalon, is apparently anti-taping, but with pro-taping bands, they seem to be cool. How many people, including Ian, Rak and myself, were taping Greyboys in there last week..? And they were running stands and sh*t...

the Troubador, with their new security, is out and out taper hostile. I have had my gear walked in by a member of the band, only to have the security goons come and hassle me - knowingly ruining my tape. I will not go in there again until they get new security (which will be soon). They dont even get the big acts anymore, and the security posture is more appropriate for a warehouse rave for 'bangers and thugs than it is for a sleepy, small club, well past its prime, that occassionally hosts the odd jamband. The goons treat everybody like shit at the door, and the place isn't all that great to begin with. They are looking to toss some white kids around, and it will happen one day soon, and then I suppose the crew will be gone, and I will be be able to return to the wood-walled bar. But until then, stay away...

Taping at the Great Western Forum is pretty simple.  I snuck in my shit for RHCP in October of Last Year with no problems.  No wands, no metal detectors, just a pat down.  They use Staff Pro, the shittiest security company out there, and most of the guys doing security are teens that dont give a shit.  You'll be fine.  =)

Vansmack, lets talk man.  I dont know any LA Tapers.  You do some good work.

Also, for anyone that cares, i'll be taping the 2 Godsmack/Metallica shows there =)

LBA was hardcore, no wands but the guys had gloves on and they were making you take everything out of the pockets, plus you could only go through gender segregated lines ::)  No problems at the Palace/Avalon, you could walk with a bomb into the Bowl, wouldn't even try to risk getting gear into the HOB.  ymmv

Same thing happened at Tool Nov 24, 2002. No biggie, though.
