Gear Bag Question...
« on: June 30, 2004, 05:43:16 PM »
One thing I've noticed looking through all the section pics, it seems like there's
always gear all over the place. On top of bags, on the floor, everywhere.

How many people have and leave their rig setup in their bag during a show?

How many have to pull it out to set everything up?

Strange question I know...just a bit of curiousity.

Right now nothing...in the past: Schoeps CMC6, AKG 480, AKG 460, AKG 414, MBHO 603a, Neumann KM100, ADK TL>Schoeps MK4, Schoeps MK2, Schoeps MK41, AKG ck61, AKG ck62, AKG ck63, Neumann AK40, Neumann AK50, MBHO ka200>Lunatec V2, Lunatec V3, Apogee Mini-Me, Oade M148, Oade M248, Sound Devices MP2, Sonosax SXM2>Sony (mod)SBM1, Apogee AD500>D7, D8, D100, M1, R1, R4, R09, iRiver HP120, Microtrack

I pull my mics and single shockmount out of my bag, that's it.  Occasionally pull out a clamp, but usually just detach my stand.

mine always stays in my bag.  its just easier, and i'm working to figure out a better way to have it in the bag.  Everythings ready to go, turn on my pre and deck, fly mics, and run their cables.  hit record then enjoy the show.

keep mine in the bag, I pull out xlr cables, t-bar, mics, shock mounts and slap it together, tidy up cables and go.  I see folks running gear on the floor all the time and freaks me out.  My bag is fairly waterbeerproof, and could probably survive a w00k dive.

I've got everything attached except the gear to the batteries and the mics in the shock mounts...also makes setup quicker if I'm running late!

everything setup in the bag...just pull the mics out, throw then in the mounts, raise the stand, and attach the batts and I am ready to go...

I guess I'm a slop ass cause I have no organizational skills with my rig.  I did see an awesome gear bag but its a $140 and I am trying to get my Jam Cruise paid for so it will have to be Team Taper Slob for now.

I keep mine in my old rakgear bag...it's not big enough to have everything connected so i have to do the interconnects (mics>pre>adc>deck) but it all stays in the bag and mostly zipped up.

mine stays inside my bag.  the njb3 sits on top of the bag due to optical.  pre, batts, etc stay in bag.

Everything stays in the bag. This is my first setup where even the mic cables are pluged in & ready to go. Just fly the mics & connect the 12V....... Love it~

I'm the worst. I just can't get a setup I am happy with. The laptop adds to the equation. If i was just running DAT I can get everything to fit in a softsided cooler.

We always have way too much stuff, it looks like we are moving in sometimes when my buddy Kyke and I are taping together.
