Thanks for all who gave me their input, but the search a the door was brutal! Security was on High alert @ the GNR show and even during the actuall show security was hasseling people that were taking pictures.  I could not get the mics in.  :'(   I still plan on doing the Ipod test at another show, but whoever mentioned that the lavalier mics would not work with batteries was tottally right, but still plan on using the BELKINS mike. It records pretty decent. dont know about a concert situation?

I'll keep you all posted.

Save your self some time and for god sakes don't use the Belkin mic to record, ok. Its good for recording the sound of a toilet flushing, but that's about it, even then the toilet might overload the "belkin" Please dont use the word bootleg :) it went out in the 70's Listen to people on this site they know what they are talking about, No one has more experience recording live shows stealth or otherwise then the users here at T.S. I am not just kissing ass because I want more sales  :P I mean it. These guys are very smart when it comes to recording, they even have good advice on where to buy good coffee.

None of that "bootleg" talk, sir.  :)

To pull good sounding tapes, you will need to put maybe $300 into gear. You'll need some new mics (AT 853s or AT831s), a battery box (Sound Professionals makes some good ones) and a recorder (I can't recommend the IRiver H120 highly enough). This will pull good tapes that won't have that much distortion. Maybe look into Chris Church's microphones too. I've heard some samples that sounded pretty damn good for the price.

Also, you can't rock out and tape. It is one or the other. But think of it this way: you can either rock out once at the show or you can rock out FOREVER with the tape. :)

No they did not touch my crotch area but the gear was busted from my girls bag. Which I always get shit in that way, but this time security searched every single little pouch and zippper in her carry on, and they had a lady who did the search and she showed no mercy to no one.

Obviously you have paid no attention to the thread that discusses what "bootlegging" really is.
