LS-10 recording speed issues anyone ?
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:41:59 AM »
i've got two recorders, a R-09 and a LS-10, but it seems both don't record at the same speed.
each time i've attempted a blend of two recordings i always have trouble syncing them, the LS-10 recordings runs faster ???

a few days ago i had a Zoom-H2 on loan (i myself loaned my R09 to a friend) and same thing, the LS-10 is way faster than the H2.
and since i managed to get a soundboard patch that night i have problem syncing the two to put on my 2 HDcam mix.

does anyone have that problem too with the LS-10 ? if so do you have the percentage it runs faster so i can try to adapt my source in audition ?

two samples from that night, if anyone is good at maths, since i can't find the speed difference (yes i suck :'()

if you use two recorders to record the same show, you will always have differences in the recording's pace. even if you used two of the same recorders to record one show, you will get both recordings at different speed, I suppose. it's usually just a few milliseconds and can be adjusted in post production with a professsional audio software. Mixing two sources always sucks the big one, that's why I hate doing it, and barely do 2 recordings of the same show.

morst's explanantion helped me:

It's what I've been doing and it works. I record with two different recorders. After several shows, I know in my most common venue, always using the same recorder for each source, I need to speed up one recording .0012 % If I record elsewhere or swap recorders, I just do the math.
