Edirol R-09 red light
« on: November 29, 2007, 09:19:08 PM »
I have searched the forum for the answer to turning off the red light during recording but have been unable to get it to work.  I upgraded the firmware to 1.30 and changed the setting to "power save".  I even tried the 1.20 firmware.  Is there another setting that has to be adjusted?

Thanks for helping the newb.

Drew

I think that your display timer is set to off and that is your problem.

enable both, "power safe" and display timer.

The red light will flash or lighten up as long the timer is active (delayed-off option for the red light in case of "power safe" active). Keep in mind, the Peak-LED will also stay inactive after the REC light is off!

I have version 1.30, and I believe I downloaded 1.20 earlier, but I do not see a "Power Safe" setting anywhere.  Is this the actual term ("power safe")?

In the menu, under "Power Management" I have an "auto power" item, but I do not see "power safe" anywhere.  Am I missing something?

I have the "display timer" set to 10 sec.

I think it's "power save" not 'power safe".

I don't have the unit with me, but some of the added firmare features require scrolling down to see them on the display, try that.  Personally I still use a small black square of gaffer tape on the plastic window of my bodyglove case to cover the rec light because I still want the clip indicator to work.  I can still operate the rec button through the plastic cover & tape.

1. Power on R09
2. Hold (don't just tap) "MENU" button
3. Arrow down to "Display Setup" and hit "REC" button
4. Arrow down to "Rec/Peak LED" and use the left or right arrows to change LED setting from "Normal" to "Power Save".
