so after one show, my dpa ua896s smell like the phillip morris factory. i have tried to let them air out for a few days. they still stink. is there a way to clean them? or is it like an air filter, time for new ones? i have only had them since june.... :-\ :-\ :-\ :'( :'( :'( :-[ :-[ :-[

I would spray any chemicals on there if I were you. They may do more harm than good.
If you soak them in water, squeeze out the funk and let them air dry, you should be in good shape.

For the Shure AWS81s, I have used water and a very little bit of Dawn dishwashing soap. Washed all of the soap out and let air dry. No problems in over 2 years of owning them...
