Title: M1 portable power
Post by: DaryanLenz on April 07, 2003, 08:50:42 PM
Quickie, as I have a handle on this,

Just curious as to what everyone uses to power their m1 and how long I can expect it to run for.  I am thinking a larger sla for the summer, and something in the area of 6 hours for normal recording.

I use Powerex 2000 mAH NiMH AA rechargables in my D100.  I have the Maha C204F charger - fast, small, great little unit.

I believe the D100/M1 draws around 250-300 mA.  Let's say 300 mA to be safe.  Two pairs of these rechargables will easily get you 6 hours (actually, closer to 8-10 hrs).

Run-times for your M1 using an SLA or RC battery pack depends on the AH rating of the battery.  The math is simple:

The M1's stated voltage input is 4.5 volts. It will run off 6V with no problem. I ran the M1 and a dmic20 off the same 6V 7.2 ah battery and had it running about  eight hours. Never ran out of juice. After I got rid of the dmic20 I was still running the M1 off the same battery. I was talking to a sales guy from Oade bro's and when he found out the size of the battery he said I should be good for about 20hrs- a great festival setup
