JB3 levels? meters?
« on: May 10, 2004, 04:21:54 PM »
Hey kids,

did a search, came up with nothing. I just got a new "Refurb" JB3. I have charged it and done a recording with it. Things seem OK, excet i did not see any type of signal meter when i did a coaxial digital line in. The levels were very low, but there was sound there. i did not see a setting or anything else that allowed me to see the input levels.

  Any help there?

Thanks,
UJ

Check/upgrade your firmware version, I believe the level meters were added in a firmware rev, but not sure which one exactly.

My info says that you don't get any level read outs if you go optical digi in... is that what you mean?

I definitely get level meters running optical-in with firmware 1.32.02.

OK, thanks guys. I did get the newest firmware, and it looks good. Also, the "tap the power button to lock the buttons" feature was not on there until this update.

All in all, really slick little unit, and props to the guys that told me to run the HOSA box off of a RC battery.

Is 1.32 a better choice than 1.40? Just got a JB3 from creative/ebay and haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
thanks, ts

FWIW, I've stuck with 1.32.02 b/c I mostly subscribe to the old if it ain't broke, don't fix it mentality.  About the only feature I really care about in the latest firmware is the faster transition to a new track.  But I haven't needed that feature at all - and don't expect to need it - so I'm in no hurry to move off 1.32.02.

from what i've noticed, the meters on the jb3 are a little behind, cuz if you crank one side it takes awhiel for it to show up.

Because nothing says "I have lots of money and am sort of confused as to how to spend it" like Bose.
