Topic: jb3 hd upgrade questions

im considering getting a jb3-ive really been finding this site helpful.  just a few more questions that i was having trouble finding answers to...

for upgrading-what type of drives does the jb3 accept? i saw the faq on upgrading but didnt see minimum requiremnts listed.  what type of hd? any particular brands known for being compatible? recommended rpm?  max hard drive size i could install?  sorry for so many, just trying to get a sense of possibilities.  thanks alot for any help!!!

The njb3 takes laptop hard discs. (also referred to as 2.5" hard discs). If you at all have a choice of the rpm, you should take the lowest speed rpm on offer (since this gives better battery life).  However I think all laptop HDDs run at 5400rpm and there is no choice...

thanks for the help!  one last round-in reading up it seems that the limiting factor for hard drive size is available memory.  would an 80 gig drive be too large? or 100 as they become cheaper?  what would people say is the cut off point?  also can you add or upgrade memory?  thanks again!  i really appreciate the input.

You want to watch what kind of drive you stick in it.  Some have higher current draw and will kill the batteries faster...  Check www.nomadness.net for best drive for battery life...

Actually the majority are still 4500rpm, but there are a lot of 5400rpms out there too.  7200rpm laptop drives are a little more expensive but you can get them if you really want them.

and they draw more power too, if that's an issue for you
