I'm visiting EUROPE - searching for gear to rent or buy.
« on: December 16, 2014, 06:04:58 PM »
Hello, I am visiting central Europe. Does anyone here know a place I can rent or buy used gear to make some recordings this month?
Thank you!
Tom

You've got some small gear, why not just take it with you?

Perhaps the SD722 is little too bulky and he doesn't want to use his DAT deck? Or he doesn't want to carry around some mic stand? Who knows.

That said, central Europe is a very elastic term. It would be interesting to know where exactly he is going to record (and what bands).

Vienna, Austria
I didn't bring my gear because I didn't have space for it in my luggage. I brought along my laptop computer, hard disks, editing tools.
I also brought a lot of Christmas gifts and clothes, which took up all the space in my luggage, so I could not fit pro any audio gear in there.

Now, I have plenty of space, but no audio gear.
Once again, Austria is the region I'll be recording in.
I can also travel to Germany.

Thank you, everyone!

Great, wonderful city.

You are only about 40 miles from Bratislava in Slovakia - you may find that you get more for your €uro there than in Wien, which can be expensive.

I would normally be in that area myself at Christmas, but this year we are spending a quiet Christmas at home un the UK.

Have a good Christmas,

John

What are you planning to use? Open or stealth? Austria is still quite heavy during security checks at the gates for gears.

I will be in west Hungary in a few days and my brother lives in Vienna so if you let me know what you need we might work out something.

Wien is not easy as I experienced in last month. Security is very tight, they pat down and examine every part of your of clothing.
Hungary is no too much risk. Securities mostly don't  give fuck about tapers.
Mics: AT853, ATM35
Inbetween: CA-9100, 3-wire battery box (homemade)
Recorders: Olympus LS-12, Zoom H2 (4 channel line input mod)
Video: Panasonic HC-V770 (x2), GoPro Hero4 Silver, Sony RX10mkII

Bratislava is OK - and that can be a good airport for the west of Hungary, close to the Austrian border.
