ok, screw the "stealth deck".
I picked up one of those $15 cable adapters (female 3.5mm stereo > USB C ) ...., hooked up my tiny omni's to it, ran "field recorder" recorded band practice last night as a test.
flawless..., sounded great.   The app is kick ass.

Am I to understand that there is some tiny A/D chip in the cable?   Or is it just carrying the analog signal into the phone's A/D ?

May I ask exactly what settings you were using in Field Recorder please? I never seem to be able to get it right. Always clipping. Thanks.

Go to the site and FAQ then "GAIN".

Settins/Rec/"low recording gain for loud events".

What microphones do you use? if your mics have a low MAX SPL, they are the problem and not the recorder.

Thank you.

SP-BMC-12. No issues with any recorders, just with the phone.
