Topic: Audix 1280 supercards vs. hypers

I see that the Audix 1280 is available in supercardiod as well as hyper.   I believe I am correct that "Supercardiod" should be more directional than hyper and without the rear lobe, correct? 

Has anyone used both and have any sense of the differences in sound? I have some Audix cardiod caps (and am waiting on my Church active cables) and probably will buy one more set of caps.  I already have a set of decent hypers, so I was thinking about getting the supercards, but I'd be curious to hear opinions.

Looks like from the Audix website that the supercardioid is probably the shotgun they mention in the 1280 product description:

I don't know what Audix may be selling, but a supercardioid pattern has a somewhat wider front lobe than a hypercardioid, actually--and both patterns have rear lobes. (You physically cannot get a pattern that is narrower than cardioid without having a rear lobe.)

If you like, you can think of supercardioid as being closer to cardioid and hypercardioid as being closer to figure-8.

That is why I am confused - as su6oxone noted, the site seems at one point to refer to omni/card/hyper/shotgun and at another point to a "supercardiod" which I understand to be what you describe above, and what I would really want (wider front lobe, no rear).  A small shotgun mic would be of no use to me....
