Schoeps CMC6 body
« on: November 15, 2009, 07:49:12 PM »
Does anyone know how to open up a Schoeps CMC6 body? I have a CMC6 and I think something inside is loose...it is rattling. So is it safe to open the body and look inside to see if anything got loose? Anyone experience this before? If it is difficult to open the body anyone know how much is it to send it and get it checked out? Who shall I contact? Thanks!

At the XLR end of the body, about 1/2" from where the diameter gets slightly narrower, there are three miniature screws spaced around the circumference of the body. Using a miniature screwdriver turn each of these screws clockwise (i.e. driving them into the mike body) about 1-1/2 turns (never more than that, or you may well lose them).

Then the outer sleeve will slide away from the XLR connector. Important: While the amplifier is open, never touch any of the parts that are located toward the capsule end of it. But in any case there really, really shouldn't be anything loose inside.

Repairs should be sent to your national distributor; if you're in the U.S., that would be Redding Audio in Connecticut (see www.reddingaudio.com for details).

And let us know how it goes, OK?

Yes I just realized it. I have 2 bodies...so I shake the other body to check if is was making a noise and it was okay. I didn't plug in the caps to check if the rattling one works. I might check that before opening it. And if I don't find anything I'll send it to reddingaudio...
Thanks guys!
