How do you mount your AT's?

The included mounts are way too high profile IMO.  What do you use for open taping?  Any small DIY clip style mounts exist?

What model? What diameter of your mics?

Shure makes 'donut' shockmounts that are really lo profile. They make a 20mm version and I *think* a 22mm version. Either 22mm or 25mm cant remember

Visit your local hardware store and purchase some PVC and PVC street connectors...then it is just shock mounts or windtech clips

So sorry- Should've specified!  853's...

Thanks Hypno- that's definitely what I had in mind.  What's the diameter of the PVC below?

1/2" with a step up connector to 3/4" to fit the windtech shock mount...I made those for my 1m AB spaced bar...they come in handy when I run two stands and microphones spaced out on Stage Lip too...

I really like the DIN and DINa stereo bars...3/4" and 1/2" with 1/2 Street connectors to make the 45degree angle.

Although it may not be very visible...On all these there is a Saw Kerf cut to make a slot that relieves tension and allows you to snake the mic cable out...

See attachment:

I sketched up different mic bars for my AT853 in Microstation.  I took the dimensions from the cPVC pipe fittings I bought and used those in the drawing.  I took a drill and bit and drilled openings to allow the mic cables to pass out the back of the bars.  I had to wrap 1 layer of felt on the insdie of the cPVC fitting so the AT853 would sit snug in it.  It leaves the cap to project 1/2" out beyond the fitting.  I then painted them matte black.  I carry all three of these with me in my bag so I can pick and choose my mic arrangment for that nights show.

To mount them to a shock mount I just use one of my old Sabra shock mounts and feed the cPVC bar through the shock then screw it onto my mic stand.  I'd like to find something a little smaller than a Sabra but it's what I use for now.

Awesome, thanks for the diagram!  I just ordered a single joemeek shockmount which is supposed to rival an A20S for about a quarter of the price. I'll upload a pic once I'm done.
