Does anyone know the type of XLR connectors that Marc Kim used on his bumblebee cables?

Assuming you're looking for the ones that Luke referenced above:

Yep, those are the one's that are on my pair that is currently in the yard sale.

They look very nice, but does it have any benefit over the standard connectors besides aesthetics?

From Neutrik:

Quote
The X-HD Series is a "Heavy duty"  XLR cable connector for outdoor use. All metal design, dust and water protected according to IP 65 by mating with related X-HD cable connector or MPR-HD chassis connector.

My experience is they are considerably heavier than the standard Neutrik xlr's and the dust caps/xlr covers peope use do not fit over the females due to the rubber jacket.

first thing I did to my BB's was to take off that rubber stuff.  The conn wouldn't seat well w/ that rubber stuff on there...
