Really thankful for all the help I've received on this site. I am using Church Mics. and am happy with these. My problem is that when recording outside on a stand it is difficult to aim these, add dead rats and it seems like I am aiming a ball of fur. Thinking I need to find decent set of cigar style mics. so easier to aim or some holder for Church mics. that make it easier to point them. Any recommendations for either holder for Church Mics. or Mics. to replace. hopefully around same price range as church's. Thanks

You could look in the Yard Sale and purchase these mics:

Thank would make it easy to aim even with the rats on them.

If you like the Church cardioids, you'll like the AT-853s. They're pretty much identical in sound.
But would it be that hard to attach something to the Church mics that would give you a better sight to aim down? Seems like even a toothpick would do the trick.

You can build stereo bars to hold the mics. Then you mount the mics to the stereo bar, and center the stereo bar to the sound field that you're trying to capture.

What kind of outdoor situations are you taping in? Are your mics cardoids or omnidirectional?
I really like the omni's outdoors (festivals, sheds), but haven't had the greatest success w/ the cards in similar situations. If you want a really easy DIY mount for the CA's, try something like this: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=183577.msg2240296#msg2240296

Win. Honestly aiming small mics (or any mics) to record PA systems is not rocket science. Outdoors even less so...

using Church CA-11 Cards on stand. When I am recording festivals and have dead rats on them and it makes it hard to aim. At night its even worse.
