There are several interesting recording devices from these folks in the Netherlands.

Anybody ever heard of these folks?

Maycom has a following in the electronic news gathering industry.  Their products work OK for other types of recording.  I'm particularly interested in the MicTube, a decent preamp in a tiny package.

Maycom's USA distributor, Bradley Broadcast, seems disinterested in the MicTube.  The Canadian distributor is more responsive. Contact them at info@canadapromedia.com

What PDA apps do support the N>Trans?
It looks like the PDAudio but with analog I/O. (could save an A/D)

I think the n-Trans is too new to have support from commercial software.  Maycom talks about a software developers kit being available, so it sounds like you gotta roll your own at this point.

Hmmm.
Maybe convince Gordon (Gidluck, Live2496) to add support for this card?

There seems to be enough interest in the N>TRANS to get some Live2496 development going. I expect to have some recorder capability with this sometime during 1Q2006.

If one's requirements are such that 85db of dynamic range is adequate, then this would be suitable. Given the specs, I don't see much advantage to recording higher than 16-bits with it at this point. AFAIK 24-bit capability is not yet available. This will require an updated driver.

Comparing this to PDAudio, this may appeal to some as no external converter required, all is powered within the pocket pc. It makes for a more compact setup than even the MIC2496. PDAudio is capable of much greater dynamic range.

N>TRANS costs more than PDAudio at $299 Euro or about 350 $US .
