AT853Rx -> MP2 Problem

OK, got these mics today (thanks drumminj) but as you can see in the photos the outercover of the XLR connection on the mics is too big to allow the lock to set the XLR in place on the MP-2.  The way I see it the only option that I have is to use a metal file and file down the top of the outer cover so that the lock can get clearance.  Any other ideas?  I guess I could use a female XLR barrel, but since these are for stealthing, I would rather avoid adding another component if possible.

Any other ideas?  Schwilly I did try to "jam" these on as you said and it just doesnt have clearance...

Man, Nick, you're not really one for foreplay, are you?  Did you at least buy her a drink before stripping her down like that?  *I* even feel violated, looking at those pics.

I was running them into a UA-5 which doesn't have any locks like that, so I really can't be any help.

Actually, I think I have figured out a solution, I am making the screw holes that hold the outer cover a little longer so that I can push the outer casing out a bit and it will work...

OK, problem solved, I filed out the holes on the outer casing so that I could give myself just a little more room and re-attached them and now everything hooks up beautifully.

yes I did, but that is one more thing to have to hide on my body when trying to get through a metal detector and I decided I would be better off to find another solution  ;D

Ok, just got done reducing the cables to 7 ft each , which will give me all the options I will need for stealth.  If you are considering doing it, it is an easy exercise, the only advice I would give is to tin the wires with solder, which they dont recommend and dont cut off more than a 1/4" of the cover, that should be plenty to get it into the contacts.

Well worth the effort though...got me to a manageable short length!
