Pro-X NP-L60 battery - sold by B&H Photo
« on: August 15, 2013, 04:07:06 PM »
Saw these being used to power 788T and 744T when I was in Frisco for Phish....I didn't get the cats contact info, but he said that Sound Devices makes a cable specifically for this battery.  He was able to run his deck and charged me at set break without even sweating it.

I think I wanna use this to run my 680...Anyone have any info on these?  They do not list any cable on the B&H site or show pics of the conectors....price is like 169.00 plus charger and cable cost.

Thanks.

Doesn't look easy to connect a cable to.

looks like this could be it - http://www.sounddevices.com/products/xlnph/

it was the only thing in power accessories that looked like it would work

So it would appear you'd have to buy the adaptor and hack the cable

appears to me the battery fits in the adapter and the cable connects to the SD7xx, no hacking necessary but it does look a little unwieldy compared to the battery solutions that usually get posted here on ts

a note or call to SD would probably make things a whole lot clearer

This is just a lithium np-1 battery - there are a number of these out there including probably the most well known ones from IDX

http://m.bhphotovideo.com/mobile/detail?R=389035_REG&

This is a 7 Ah (or 7000mAh version)

NP-1 batteries (although the chemistries have changed over time) have been on the market since at least the early 1980's - the Sony PCM-F1 took them for example and it dates back to 1982

One other item to note a 6ah 14.8v battery is equivilant to 88.8 wh and a 7ah version = 103.5 wh - the 12v bixnet battery cost about $30 more has a USB out and is 144 wh (1.6 times the capacity of the battery linked to in the original post)

I use an NP1 12v battery to power my HDP2 for a few years now.  I should say at first for my HDP2 running phantom for my Earthworks SR77's.
Prior to that power was a frustrating experience.
B&H found a 12 volt cable for to fit the HDP2 me when I bought it but it was reverse polarity.  I had to hack the cable to make it work.
Other than that it works great and charges quickly.  I have run it in this configuration for over 6 hours.  Have never tested the limits beyond that.  The cup connector fits snugly and I have never had a problem with it slipping off.
I have added a V3 to this line and now use it exclusively to run the P2.  I am sure that it will run all day like that if I needed it to.
It's an obsession but it's pleasin'.......

B&H has several termination varieties available for the NP1 battery cups even bare for installing whatever connector you might use Link HERE

I have several of the NP1-SB/NP-23dx NiCAD variety and a four bay charger that I picked up for a great price on eBay.  Being NiCAD they are not light but I've got plenty of power available for festies if needed.

I usually carry one NP battery with me for a backup in case of problems with my Tekkeon MP3450 but a single Tekkeon will simultaneously power both my recorder and MixPre-D for a real long time on a full charge and it's much lighter.
