Title: ?? about using 2 Pre's/Phantom Power with XLR splitter

hey folks,

i'm looking to borrow these (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=64289.0) XLR splitters from balou2, but there's something i'm not quite clear about, and i'm wondering if someone had an answer..

with the splitter, i want to do a compare of my AKG 483s running into (a) a DMIC-20, and (b) a FireWire 410. my question is - what do i do about phantom power in this instance?? do i turn it ON on both units? just on one? and if i'm only using phantom power on one, will that 'flaw' my comparison?
