Title: If I'm to ask for a feed from the board, what should I be equipped with/expect?
Post by: Ringside on March 22, 2015, 02:03:47 AM
Hello all,

I've been doing audience recordings for a couple of years now and I'm thinking about maybe toying with getting soundboard feeds too, if possible. Just as an option / learning experience.

My questions are, if my recorder has XLR inputs, what should be go equipped with cable wise, and what can I expect from a friendly sound man?

Cheers!

RCA > (whatever your deck takes)
XLR > (whatever your deck takes)

maybe two 1/4" adapters that slide onto RCA's...

that should cover you mostly.

i like a three foot cable minimum just to get out of the way.

Also, XLR splitters to make the SBD out into 2 SBD outs. In case FOH/band was using it. Or in case you wanted to split the feed with someone else.
