Title: 744T Power / Battery Question
Post by: mcroberts on December 13, 2011, 07:49:45 PM
I have some basic questions re: powering the 744T with external batteries.

1.) Approx. how long will the 744T power up on a 7.4V 7200 mAh li-ion if running 2 channel phantom power with inputs 3 and 4 shut off and unrouted and LCD and backlight on?
2.) Same as #1 above but running a 7.4V 7800 mAh li-ion?
3.) What are considered to be the best batteries to power this device for the longest time possible while maintaining convenience in battery (i.e. size, weight)?
4.) What is the suggested vendor for #3 above?

Thanks.  Probably answered already within this board but couldn't immediately locate.

maker: Lenmar (accept no substitutes). :)

I vaguely remember getting around 6-7 hours on my 722 with healthy batteries in that size range with those requirements. I'd have to double check to be more accurate though.

I used to get around 6 hrs or so when I ran MIC-IN, Phantom ON, Backlight ON, etc. So I would bet you will get around the same on your 744 since inputs 3/4 wont be used!

I used a 744T just once, for RAQ NYE Run 12/30/2007, and had a board patch for 3/4 and 483>744 for channels 1/2, and I recorded the whole show without worries, which was 2 sets long! And that was with a 6,600mah battery.

I also had made an external power solution w/ a Sony DK-415 722 battery dummy ce3ll, and used 7.2v/4,500mah RC Car batteries to power my 722 at festies/long shows/etc ;)

And most importantly, have fun and pull some "heat" ;D  8)
