I have a few tapes made with the shortshotguns... they sound like.... well... shotguns

what specifically where you wanting to know?

I have the ck8's and like Tim said they are guns....not as much ambient but can focus in the part you have the line of sight with...meaning if you lock in on the highs they will be there and of course lows are everywhere...like I said less ambient/ more narrow sound but the apparence of being more focused on the stacks is due to less ambient....make any sence?   AKG's have good guns...senns seem a litttle too bright to me...maybe less bass??? and naks have their own low end sound.  Short shots to me are better than long as they reduce the tunnel effect...if you are mixing w/ and omni or card, some very nice tapes can be had. From a distance I'd rather have guns than LD's.

Well, just wondering if the short guns will perform better in a large PA venue than the 63 hypers? My guess is that the hypers will do a great job in most places even arenas. Thanks.

I would definitely run hypers over guns.... that's just my opinion but guns just don't sound natural to my ears at all.

I have a few decent panic akg gun tapes made from the ts, and they sound ok considering the distance....but definitely a little weird, like listening in a tunnel. def. not worth buying a pair. hypers will do the job. particularly the 63's.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I just tried the 62's and Jecklin Disk and the sound was incredible!! Very open, crisp and natural. But without getting the mics into the air the chatter can be intense. Always a toss up!
