Jb3 On/Off Button Broken? (Dropped)
« on: May 04, 2005, 06:19:24 PM »
So yeah, I just dropped my Jb3 on the ground, like a moron. I picked it up and it scrolled, and played, etc. etc. everything fine (this is my 2nd backup Jb3 by the way). I was about to turn it off, and noticed that the On/Off Button was compressed all the way in, and it wasn't able to turn on/off. I turned the unit off by switching the idle shut down time from 15 min to 1 min, now it is off. Although I can't really turn it on without getting that button to work any ideas? Please help me! Thanks.

Is the power button wedged in position by the case, perhaps?  This happened to me once when pushing it in/out - the case held it in place.  I was able to easily pop it loose.  If yours is wedged, try prying open the hole in the case surrounding the button to see if it frees it up.  But be careful!  Too much stress may damage the case and/or display.

If it's not wedged in place, then I bet you'll have to pop the case to get a better look.  And again - be careful!  It's easy to damage the display, apparently.

It's fucked, I've messed around with it. Thankfully it was my backup (for patches, and just mp3 player around campus here). I can't use the on/off button, but I have the idle timer on 1 minute, and to get it to turn on/off I just pop in/out the battery...

I guess it will have to do. Thank you Brian.
