Title: Why no separate channels with THIS setup?

I use 2 DPA adapters and my DPA4060mics plugged into 2 x3.5mm female stereo.
WHY do both channels record when only 1 mic is plugged in?
What signal is being recorded? Is it dual mono or what?

I just talked to my local DPA contact in Vienna and I ´ll get my money back tomorrow ;) when I return the 2 adapters.
Will use my MPS6030 tomorrow for the POLICE show in Vienna ;).

Its because these adaptors short out the tip and ring. So your shorting out the tip and ring on your headphone adaptor.. Also the iriver does not put out enough power to operate these mics correctly.

i know my dpa need 5V at least and tested the same adapters with my 12V bbox aswell with the same results.

are there different 3.5mm y-cables which can solve this problem and forward separated l+r channel to the iriver?

Actually I have measured the distortion with the 4 volts the Iriver puts out vrs 9 volts and there is  SIGNIFICANT difference in distortion.. Just to give you a heads up. You need  to make an adaptor with the ring and the tip of the female shorted together going to a single stereo male jack you then connect the ring and tip to one side of the stereo jack and do the same thing for the other female jack and it will work. If you like I can build you one for $20.00 + shipping. BUT there are very easy to build your self..
