Harmony Remotes....anyone have one?
« on: August 15, 2005, 10:00:17 AM »
I am considering getting one as I would love to get an easy to use remote (easy enough for my wife to figure it out) that controls everything and I have had very bad experiences with universal remotes in the past.  This looks like the real deal, but would like to hear some input...thanks!

I don't have one, but it seems that http://www.remotecentral.com is a good place to start looking.  They have reviews on plenty of remotes, you should be able to find one that will work there.

My pilot buddy is a total remote junkie, he goes through them like socks.  Out of the Harmony, Prontos and Home Theater Master's, he swears by the Home THeater Master remotes.  I recently got the 850 and love it.  They are easy to program, codes are online for most products if you get PC programability.  Macros make it super easy for the wife to use.

Nick,

I just bought a Harmony 880 remote and it's pretty nice.  I haven't been able to really sit down and tweak it to my liking, but it seems like it is pretty flexible with all the things you can do with it (program ever single button), but best of all is it's ergonomics.  It feels good in your hand and puts the Tivo buttons in close range, which was my priority.  Do a search on avsforum.com for "Harmony 880" and you'll find a 40-something page thread on the device.  Also check out - http://squareworld.com/harmony/

BTW, my wife likes the remote and has even picked it up and used it several times.  Wait a minute...that may be a bad thing!  :o

Sorta off topic:  Is this a good deal on a multifunctional remote?  It's available today only, or less time if it sells out.

edit: Nevermind, they just sold out
