Quick question regarding streaming
« on: April 17, 2013, 12:11:59 AM »
Hello everybody!

So I was thinking of trying my hand at streaming a show.  I was planning on running a minijack from my M-10 Line-Out to my laptop then streaming on ustream.  My main question is regarding the levels.  Would I still want my m-10 to be hovering around -12dB or closer to 0?

Thanks!

Are you running the minijack directly into the line-in of your laptop?

It is more about what your line out level is.  I run about -6 dB and the output level at around 20-24.

yup line in to my laptop

and how do I know what my output levels are? from my understanding the m-10 has a line out function and a headphones function.

the trick is to find the best combination of output, levels on the computer sound control panel and optionally levels on the Adobe Flash Media Encoder.

Also, have someone you know connected to you that can help you make adjustments while you run. Don't just listen to random folks in the crowd.

There is an output level control next to the output jack - 30 is the max.  Press down until you get to 20.  :-)  This will have out output at a level that should not be too hot for your computer line in to handle.  This is my experience and I am running the same path.

I use the Adobe Flash Media Encoder and run 1-2 clicks from the minimum.

hey y'all
assuming I get permission from the bands the URL should be http://www.ustream.tv/channel/dodilittle
any Feedback would be appreciated!

I just need to make sure I can hook up to a power supply (battery's gone to poo) and that the bands are cool with it...

it'll be UV Hippo & The Diggity at Bell's Brewery as well...

*edit music starts at ~9:30 EST
