I had a friend, years ago, who had a Nakamichi 550. It was about the same time that I ran a Sony TC-153SD (for Dead shows). The Nak is a nice deck.

If you are really going to do this - drop some coin and buy a Nagra IV-s and run 15 ips

bummer, nak is not working properly yet (and have to find a gig too)...might take some time for use with nak. I did buy another recorder (marantz 430, which i will also try).

I've been resisting the urge to break out my 430.

The Marantz 430 pales in comparison to the Sony TC-D5M.
