Very Quick Question on SD-722
« on: July 05, 2015, 05:14:01 PM »
Going to roll this again in the theatre tonight for final GD concert
I want to have the longest battery life possible because I only have the one 7.2V battery that came with the unit. . Battery only lasted for 1st set and I got low battery warnings halfway through second set (during 'Drums")
I selected "CF Only" for recording medium - IS there any setting other than that to eliminate the spinning of the hard drive for the sake of battery conservation?

Thanks

Don't know the answer to your question...but you could also see if any other tapers have an extra battery.

I always carry backup batteries and am happy to hand them out for others in need.

That will disengage the HD.  You can also dim the display or turn it off after you've set levels.  That will help.

Thanks all. Running in stealth mode to conserve power also just recording to CF card. Have two other recorders running as well for back up (and comparisons). AT853>SD722.  2nd rig: AT853>ZoomH6 that will be an interesting comparison
Rig 3: CAFS>CA9100>Sony PCM m10

I think that's all you can do to save power on a 722. On a 702T/744T/788T you can also disable timecode and on the 744T and 788T you can set unused channels to power save mode.

I actually had enough battery to last the whole show, but the warning was flashing.

Have a Naztech PB15000 in transit as well as a custom cable from Ted….

Is it just me, or is that hirose connector a bit difficult to plug in?

Hirose is the bomb/bullet proof. Don't bother pulling up the slider to engage it, just push it gently against the other connector and turn it until you feel the teeth grab and push it to fully connect it. Easy peesy.
