This stealth mic decent?
« on: January 09, 2005, 11:38:13 AM »
Been looking for a good stealthing mic for my JB3 and they're all really expensive. Did some looking around and found these:

http://www.giant-squid-audio-lab.com/

Going for 80 bucks. I assume this is all I'd need.

Any comments would be great. :)

haha, what a coincidence, I just asked about these here too: http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=32596.0
I got them although I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. Did you listen to their samples, they sounded decent. We'll see though...

I listened to a couple Robert Plant samples. Sounded pretty good and they used MD, I'm sure it'd sound even better with the JB3.

I would'nt recommand these mics for use with the JB3.

As seen on the Giant Squid website FAQ section:
When you plug the microphone in the Nomade Jukebox 3, you'll get sound in only one channel.
It is a design flaw in the Nomad Juke Box 3 in which the plastic body won't alow most microphones plugs to be full inserted. This is an easy fix, however.

He'd be running them through a battery box most likely, so this wouldn't be an issue.

Gonna grab these mics. After hearing a few great sound samples, and great feedback from ya'll, I've made up my mind.

Thanks :)  8)

Indeed, the gold jack that came with these mics dont quite fit snugly, shit, lol, is there another way to get around this besides surgery? An adapter, perhaps?

Darren makes a solid sturdy set but the panasonic capsules are on the cheapest of ends, talk to him about buying a set of different capsules on your own and see what he might charge to assemble. I am not affiliated but can vouch that he is a straight up honest guy, doesn't pretend these mics are something they are not.

Not sure what you mean, you mean he can add a diferent jack to the end of these mics?
