Hooking everything up tonight and something popped. I get a code 11 report on the front.

any ideas on how to fix this??

I have everything unhooked except the power cable now. Do you think it will reset itself?

no help either...needs to be sent in for service $216.00....off to the garbage for this motherfucker.

Sounds like a power issue.

Check all the fuses first and foremost.

What speakers are you running? Could have maybe overdrawn the load on the receiver/output to speakers.

google: Sony Code 11, you'll find some threads referring to other models of the sony which have had this problem.

PROTECTOR/CHECK CODE 11
Irregular current is output from the speakers. Turn
off the receiver, check the speaker connection and
turn on the power again.

NOTE: If the stereo receiver displays an error (PROTECT) or does not turn on, then service will be required. Otherwise, continue troubleshooting with the following steps.

4. Turn off the stereo receiver.

5. Check the impedance rating of the speakers.
IMPORTANT: Sony® stereo receivers are not compatible with speakers rated below 4 ohms.

6. Ensure the Impedance Selector Switch [FIG. 1] on the rear of the stereo receiver is set to match the ohm rating of the speakers.
IMPORTANT: The Impedance Selector Switch may not be available on all stereo receiver models. Consult the instruction manual for impedance specifications.

7. Connect the front left and right A speakers.

8. Turn on the stereo receiver.

NOTES:
* If the stereo receiver displays an error or does not turn on, examine the speaker wires for shorts or frayed shielding and replace if necessary.
* If the stereo receiver turns on without displaying any errors, then continue connecting any additional speakers.

I had this problem and it ended up being some blown fuses in the receiver. Find an authorized repair outlet and they can fix it. Warranty on those things is 5 years...you should be able to get it done under warranty

I tried powering back up this morning...still same code. I guess I'll have to find a service center.

fwiw...i have all sony es home stereo equipment including DAT. several years ago i had the same experience...plug everything in and pop...status 11 on DAT - Sony ES DTC-1000ES. i hate to say it but mine also was a stupid mistake. took it to Doug from whom I purchased and the diagnosis was not good. he actually ordered the part from Sony and repaired it but it was costly...$275.
