Hello,
I have done some research such as trew audio, and others but i was wondering where the best place to buy a matched pair of CCM4 schoeps detachable cable. If anyone could give me some places that sell the mics? Oade was selling them but he told me he is not carrying mics of that kind anymore. Also looking for good customer service. Thanks in advance for your recommendations

Jerry at Posthorn. Stand up guy great company etc.

I would also recommend Vark Audio (as would Jerry). They are a tremendous asset to our community and one of the last places left that will repair many of our prized pieces of vintage equipment.

I bought my sonosax pre amp from Jerry. I just did not know if he would do matched pair and extra 1 m cable for each mic? but again doesnt hurt to ask. I did not know if Jerry is on the high side of prices or if Schoeps pricing is generally the same where ever you go?

When you have an expensive item that people are required to advertise a certain price (B&H and Pro-Sound both list $2018), I agree; call and speak to someone to see what sort of deal they will do. I know from experience having a relationship with a vendor gets me a discount above the listed price, often times with the request not to talk about the price publically.

Schoeps are a fixed price so customer service is the deciding factor. I have bought from Jerry as well and he is a pleasure to talk to. That being said , seems like all the people that I know of that deal Schoeps have very good customer service. The best deal you will get on them is free shipping.

Yes, Jerry can do a matched pair like anyone else. I got my matched MK5s from him.

Got my Schoeps stuff from Jerry @ Posthorn as well. I think he can get whatever you need. I got CMRs and matched MK4s from him, I think he had to have the CMRs shipped over from Europe. That said, if you can get what you're looking for in the Yard Sale, you'll probably save some $ and get them sooner. From what I know as well, Schoeps list pricing is pretty much fixed, so unless you can talk somebody into a deal, probably doesn't matter much where you go as far as pricing.

Schleps have fixed pricing so just choose your favorite vendor. I really like Justin marinoff from pro sound in NYC. That's where I got my icy cable from

Regardless of whether they are a fixed price, if you are buying new, you should still call your favorite dealer for their price... In the past, I've received a discount even though the price was fixed by the manufacturer.
That said, there are some deals in the yard sale on occasion.

If a dealer gets caught selling for less than the fixed price it can result in them pulling that product or at least straining there relationship, there are several electronic and appliance manufacturers that have this in place. One might also question the "character" of a dealer marking down product that is not supposed to be?

From my experience, it's not an isolated activity, nor an indicator of their moral character, especially in stuff that is over $500.
Sometimes the manufacturer says that the MAP rules don't apply once you put it in your cart (B&H and Amazon have a bunch of those from time to time), others won't even put a price up and instead you *have* to call them to purchase it. It depends on the manufacturer. It could be that nobody is willing to take the hit on their margin for schoeps, or the mics move themselves so they don't have to. I've never figured out the rhyme and reason where margins are willing to be cut to make a deal, but I've seen it over half the time with my big ticket audio purchases.
So yeah, I don't think it hurts to call and form a relationship with your dealer of choice. You may not get a discount, or you may not get a discount every time, but all you're out is a little time and a few minutes on a cell phone.

With all that said we were talking about Schoeps specifically and those are fixed prices. As far as other manufacturers sure try for any deal you can. Have you ever gotten Schoeps new for a discount and if so where? pm me please :)
