Title: Cable suggestion?!?
Post by: TheWildKindness on February 05, 2006, 08:06:20 PM
So I just recently upgraded my equipment and was hoping someone could help me with some XLR cable suggestions. I have limited funds, but don't want to skimp on cables.
I was told Kind Kables was a good way to go. So I was looking through their site and found these, http://kindkables.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=27 ,any comments/experience on these? Is there a plus to have the right angle connector going into the UA-5? Any comments and or other suggestions?

I saw this website posted in one of the forums for cables, so are these any good: http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=2029&sku=40060 , or are they basically similar to Whirlwind cables?

Or is there someone who makes nice cables in the community for around the $40- $60 range?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn

I just ordered a Black Stealth...will post once I get it. There are also some great deals to be had on Mogami and Canare on eBay.

The cables you posted from kindcables (black stealth) are $65 with free shipping - that is basically in your range since you could expect at least $5 shipping on a $60 pair of cables. If you want cheaper, build them yourself or get them off Ebay. But unless you have lots of experience with a soldering iron and cable building, I think paying a bit more for a pair built by a pro is worth it. I also think that you'd like this thinner diameter cable because it packs up much smaller. I know I did when I went from regualr star quad to mini star quads. As far as right angles go, it all depends on how you plan to set up at a concert. Since the UA5 has front XLRs, I don't think it is as big a deal to have straight xlrs since you'll probably keep your bag open. Unless you have a shure bar, I would reccomend right angle female ends for your C4s (it would still  be nice with a shure bar though).

EDIT: I can't comment on how the cables would affect your sound since I've never used those particular cables.

Just got some interconnects from ED (kindkables) Quality work. I'd suggest him anyday.

Which ones are the interconnects? I have heard good things about his cables from reading through the board.
