Topic: Patching into the SBD with a D8

Hey,

I recently bought a D8 and took it on Jamcruise to help and get some experience using it.  I was given the opportunity to plug my DAT into one of the soundboards but "he" said I would need an XLR.  I have only patched in with a Digi RCA > 7-pin > D8.  Is it as simple as using a cable/adapter such as this...

You can use XLR x 2 -> 1/8" stereo, but you'll likely overload or brickwall the D8.  You can make some homemade attenuators, if you're handy with a soldering iron for about $5-$10 in parts from radio shack.  I made one that has 1/4" inputs and RCA outputs.  To do a board tape, I then use XLR-> 1/4" cables to the attenuator box, and then a RCA -> 1/8" cable to the D8.

Addresses a bit more than your question, but no all soundboards will use XLRs, so may be worth a read.
