I don't have enough posts for actual karma points yet, but I really have to post this note to express my appreciation to Nick for building me emergency loaner cables from his on-hand stock for a couple of shows I've got coming up this weekend, after I somehow managed to lose my Canares at my last gig.

a customers deadline came, and went...and apparently the $17 overnight package didn't make it, as the  USPS said it would.
My bad in the long run.  the effort was there.  Just too late.  take your success w/a grain of salt.

I got this 100' length of cable off of ebay from an unknown source.  a one time deal.
I thought it was normal millspec 22awg shielded 2 conductor, like I always use.
and it is..., but its got the absolute thickest teflon tape jacket i've ever seen.  then the two conductors, of something silly like 25 strands per, is individually shielded and then another teflon coating over the silver-clad copper.
BAD ASS wire.
I'd been making speaker cable out of it by combining the sheilded braiding w/the inner 20awg conductor's inner braid, resulting in a double layer - mega surface area - conductor...to great affect.
I thought it inconvenient for making mic cable as it would be a little thick, stiff and too much for the small techflex jacket I use.  But..., after making a pair today, i'm sad that I dont have more of it in stock.  It was , by far..the best mill-spec wire i've seen.  the quality and detail of construction was amazing.

Hey Nick, maybe you can help me out. I have a Church Audio ST-9000 and a 15-foot Canare cable with a 1/8" male plug that's too wide to plug into the CA amp's input because it's too close to the input control knob. Can you suggest a good quality 1/8"female to 1/8" male with a more NARROW plug? I want to remain consistent with the cable quality (if it actually makes a difference and if it doesn't, I could have saved a few bucks! ) Thanks in advance. rWc3523

I've got a 1/8th male > female , about 1' long, in stock and sitting in front of me.
works with my 9100.  so it should work w/yours.

Ok, I'll show y'all what's up. I think Nick might have a fix since I would like to keep this fine cable.



The first pic shows the STC-9000 and the very sweet, but rather large male plug on the Canare cable I want to use as an extension for my CA cards.



The second pic shows the plug trying to enter the female input on the STC-9000, but it cannot because of the proximity to the audio level knob. Actually, if the darn cable had a smaller plug, we wouldn't be going through this!



And finally, a closer view of my dilemma!

I suppose I would need a short, good quality, female to male connector with a male plug that is much smaller than the one in the photos. Plus, I'd rather not pay as much as I did for that 15' Canare extension. Suggestions guys

I would take a grinder to that beautiful connector, and make a flat spot to provide clearance.  I'm not saying all the way to the core, just enough so it will go in.  It won't take much.  A lot of my cables have that "customization".  It only hurts for a minute.

another option is to remove the knob.

I guess a 3.5mm female barrel>3.5mm jack would solve the logistic problem.
