Title: recording rig > iPod > mixlr ???? what cable do I use
Post by: RMayberry on October 21, 2017, 05:22:18 PM
I have a 5th gen iPod touch. I want to plug my rig in to headphone/mic port via just a cable.
I have tried a few cables and adapters and no luck.

I am currently using the Line 6 Sonic Port for streaming and it works real good but, it drains the power from the iPod kinda quickly.
Its a great little box. Its the older version not the RX version with the power adapter. It pulls the power from the iOS device.

I didnt realize this would be an issue till now.
I have a quick charge battery that works nice but,......I have been wanting to find an interim option with just a cable going from my deck to my ipod untill I can afford to get the Line 6 Sonic Port RX(battery powered version)

I would prefer to be able to use the lightning port as a charging port while streaming.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

blue mikey. I have one for my iphone 4. It has 1/8" in, or you could stream w the blue mikey alone. Sounds fine for streaming mixlr. They also come in w lightning plug too. https://www.engadget.com/2014/08/07/blue-microphones-mikey-digital-goes-lightning-sounds-great/

I've been using a soniport for two years and it works well but the touch, as you found out, can't power it. It works great with an iphone or ipad. The VX version should work but I can't confirm that. I have a VX aI bought on ebay for a lot less than retail . You might keep an eye out there..
