i was wondering how close to the camcorder
a metal detector has to be
for it to detect it.
AND arent mass produced camcorders made up mostly of plastic materials so therefore CANT react to it??
its the guns n roses concert im worried about.
they had 2 guys on each person when i was in toronto.
thanks for any input.

I've heard that it's the batteries and not the camcorders themselves that set off metal detectors (same with DAT & minidisc recorders), but it may also depend on the sensitivity of the particular metal detector being used.

Not true my DAT and Minidisc will set off my metal detectors, you are correct on that this is also dependent on how sensative the detectors are set at. I always see post that are based on rumors about what detectors will and will not pick up so I went and bought a hand wand that is used by most venues to do some testing.
