Title: RCA > XLR or 1/4"???
Post by: tgakidis on November 28, 2008, 03:15:34 PM
I just picked up a JK Labs box that has rca outs.  I plan to use this with either a Mini-MP or an R-4, both have xlr-1/4" combie inputs.  So what is the best cable to have, rca > xlr OR rca > 1/4".  I Need to clarify the best option before placing a cable order.  Thanks!

When I use my Mini-Me for cassette transfers I use a male RCA to Male XLR cable. I am not sure about the Mini-Mp but the MMe is designed to accept both balanced and unbalnced inputs. I know with the MMe the 1/4" inputs are supposed to be used for instrument input. Hope that helps.

Your right Kyle.  I checked the mmp manual and the 1/4" inputs are high impedance unbalanced.

For the R4 I would go XLR ;)
