« on: May 09, 2023, 01:42:29 PM »
anyone have any formatting software suggestions?
i have a CF card that fails formatting when it gets to the 80-90% completion mark.
tried on a couple machines and a couple different card readers.
card also fails to format on my 722.

if it aint broke, don't fix it

I'd say it's time for a new card!  Why risk it?

Does the company that made the card have any kind of useful warranty on their products? Sounds like it's no good anymore.

I use those cards in my MTii and some of them just die. They are pretty cheap or used to be, and I always format them in the recorder. If they don't format in the recorder they get tossed. I like to format 3 and these them, and keep 2 as backups at the show "just in case" I have to pop out the one in the deck and then I have a backup ready to go.

But in answer to your original question, use the deck to format.
