You are way to worried about getting gear in, its not hard no matter what they have for security, just be confident and you'll be fine.

are you saying someone got a black eye from someone at a show? like security? if that's the case, I wouldn't go with or without gear.

that actually seems kinda cool
the samples look decent for the price - hell
wonder how much you can fit on 4gb
to bad the battery doesn't last long - then again you might be able to use a mt external battery set up to power it longer

They have bunches of these 'spy cam' devices for sale at dealextreme.com.

Check here: http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.spy%20cam

My favorite is the cigarette lighter:

You will get this by anywhere but the result will be so bad that it's not worth the trouble and money. I recommend taking a decent camera or leave it be and just enjoy the show!

Agree, the result would be pointless.
Dunno about the venue the OP mentioned, but you'll get a lot better pictures with most built-in mobile phone cameras these days, and my understanding is that most security won't bother confiscating your phone, right?

Like the Samsung SGH-G8x0 series. 3x optical zoom, 5 megapixel and halfdecent flash (although you might not want to use flash with nazi security):

If I wanted to bring a separate camera for stealth, I'd get myself a Casio Exilim EX-S12. 15mm thick, you could crotch this thing anywhere  ;)

It's hard to aim and the frame rate makes for a bit jerky action, but I'm a sucker for these gadgets.  I was very pleasently surprised by the image quality (fewer light level and focus issues than I expected).  It is rather neat and absolutely worth the price to me.  The "English" version of the instructions alone are worth the price of an evening at the Comedy Club.  A colleague at work insisted on making himself a copy.

I've shot video at several shows with this Sony DSC-T100 (Cybershot) and it shoots amazing video for a little point and shoot.

LOL.  Perhaps you should lay off the hooch before you type messages!  I understand Swahili better than I understand what you're trying to say in this message!

Point-and-shoot cams don't have audio settings - at least - I've never heard of one that has adjustable audio settings.  Typically they record only 64 bit audio - which is downright minuscule.

You have to plan on using an alternate audio source - preferably one recorded by someone with an audio taping rig - to have any hope of getting audio you can use for a video project.
