Topic: Mic Stand help

Hi TS folks,
Long time listener here, first time caller.  Looking for some advice from anyone who wants to help!  I've been doing some research on mic (light) stands for the last few days, and have found lots of information using the search function, but most of the threads I found seem pretty old. 

I just ordered this mic mount:  http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-DTS-11 (gonna use sp-cmc-8s).

All I need now is a stand.  The Bogen 3333 (Manfrotto_367B) (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/546527-REG/_367B_Basic_Light_Stand.html) seems to be a winner.  Anyone have any other suggestions before I place my order?  I'm looking for something sturdy that I wont want to replace anytime soon.  Is there anything better that has came out recently?

Nothing wrong with your choice at all.  Trusted brand, trusted retailer. 9' should be more than sufficient for most purposes.

FWIW I own a 15' Manfrotto and an 8' or so Impact stand I got for $25 from B&H.  I rarely run high, but the Manfrotto product is awesome anyway, and not much heavier.  I think you will be very happy with their stands.

I have a 15' manfrotto air cushioned stand that I mainly use with ksm 141 pair to record orchestras.  It's a great stand, light and compact, but sturdy.

The air cushioned are nice,especially if you have LD(heavy) mics.

I used that exact stand (the original silver version of the 3333) with those exact mics for years.  In fact, I still use the stand, but have since moved on to different mics.

I have and use stands made by both Manfrotto and Impact.  While none of them have ever given me a lick of trouble or worry, my impression is that the Manfrotto gear seems to be made just a little better.  My 2 cents.
